Pulleys, which can be drum or roller type, are the most common simple machines used to drive the belt in most conveyor systems. Due to its widespread use, manufacturers have made improvements for better system performance and longer life. One of them is a crown conveyor.
Pulleys are tubular drums used to drive the belt in a conveyor system. The drive pulley is connected to a motor, which transmits the torque required to drive the cunewalde. As a result, the belt conveyor moves along the track. However, due to the mechanism, a common problem with most conveyor belts is the tendency of the conveyor belt to move to the side or away from the intended track. If this happens, the belt will be exposed to excessive wear as it rubs against the cunewalde frame and will be damaged more quickly on impact. Friction also causes friction, which results in increased engine load as well as energy consumption.
Crown pulleys are suitable here. It is installed to ensure that the belt is on track and does not float to the side. Whether conical or trapezoidal, the crown pulleys consist of a drive pulley with a center diameter slightly higher than the ends. The difference in diameter causes the belt to correct by constantly moving backwards in its direction, as it is likely to drift.
However, the disadvantage is the price. The material, although the processing process is relatively expensive. Heavy metal is currently used for crown wall pipes. And many unusable parts of the material are wasted during the processing.
As the belt conveyor moves, the drive belt is likely to slip. It is a leading manufacturer in the production of drive rollers with small diameters. But because the diameter is smaller, there is a small surface contact area with the cunewald. This results in limited torque transmission. To solve this problem, the engineers thought that shaping the rubber or some synthetic material on the top of the drive wheel would increase the grip and thus the torque transmission. The rubber cover is what they call lagging behind. The rear provides the necessary traction to make the pulley work more efficiently.
The rubber material is mixed and applied to the pulley. Manufacturers produce vulcanized insulation in various levels of hardness according to customer specifications, in any diameter or length. There are various patterns to choose from – simple, ceramic, crown, fish and grooved. However, it can be expensive. The process of placing rubber on the cylinder and the material itself is relatively expensive. There is a cheaper alternative to abandonment that involves breaking back issues. The result is the same as the crown effect of the pulley. The disadvantage of this type of delay is the effect of stretching the conveyor belt.
Crown conveyor pulleys can be very useful if you know how to use and care for them. Proper handling and maintenance of the conveyor pulleys can work wonders in extending its life. So if you are considering using one of them for your plant or business, know the basic mechanism and look for the beneficial innovations it brings. It is expensive at first, but in the end you can save money because the machine can serve you for many years.
